Sugar, Sugar

Painting for the Day of the Dead themed show at Cactus Gallery in Eagle Rock this month!

It seems like this should have been right up my alley, but it was actually a hard one. There was much swearing and putting it off that went on throughout.

Since sugar skulls are basically what I spend all day at work trying to avoid having to draw, I kept being reminded of work, and then I'd be like YOU KNOW WHAT I SHOULD DO I SHOULD ORGANIZE MY POTS AND PANS and then no painting would get done, again.

Project Ethos: Love Sick paintings

I got an email asking to be featured in this year's LA Project Ethos 10 days before the actual show, so there was some amount of AAAAAAFUCK PAINT that took place over that week and a half. Luckily, I came up with a bunch of new paintings, and things turned out pretty surprisingly decent.

Bad Idea

I actually forgot what I officially titled this, but I think that's probably pretty close. This one's for the And We All Fall Down show at Monkeyhouse in Silverlake. There were a couple little paintings I did for the show, too, but I forgot to photograph them. Nar.


Still not making any progress planning out my paintings! Yeah!

Attacking the canvas with spray paint seemed like a good place to start.

I was really set on using totally bad colors for the monsters, for some reason. Also, trying to draw on spray paint sucks. I couldn't find a grease pencil. As usual. I don't know where those things all go.

At this point my color sense kicked in and convinced me to use something a little more complimentary.

And that's it!

And the show was fucking amazing. Naturally I managed to not photograph half of it, as I am awesome.

Done for the Wild Wild Kingdom plus show at Monkeyhouse Toys in Silverlake.

In my defense, I did try to sew something, but honestly, I think it's time to admit that particular ship has sailed, sprung a leak, and sank in the harbour. So, needle felting. I'm good at stabbing stuff.


This is a major occurrence when I'm felting.

Using pliers to hold the felt, pros : no stabby fingers. Cons : stab metal, needle breaks, flies, hits me in the eye.

He has pretty little toenails. And one Penn nail, for some reason.

Almost done! Except for the signs, and organs, and painting the wood, and figuring out how to attach everything to said. Siiiiiiigh.
